It starts right here, with me:
Crown’d Vic (aka Vicki)
My nose piercing and tattoos keep me from normalcy, while my job (school teacher) and religion keep me grounded. I practice yoga and happy hour, too. I love to relax with a good book, live music, and actually enjoy cleaning (all pair well with a glass –or three– of wine). Some might call me a dork, and that’s fine by me. I enjoy talking about & selling Scentsy, too! Meanwhile I strongly dislike extended talks on the phone and the feel of stretching apart a cotton-ball.
My sappy posts about Mike and his influence on my life tell it all. He loves sports and I can never compete with The Mets or The Packers, but I can wear their logos making me even more attractive in his eyes! Mike works in politics, however I never exactly understand his job. Mike recently graduated with his Master’s in International Relations and loves his job doing imporant things (just don’t ask me what) with AJWS.
He enjoys buying me jewelry (if I write it, it will come true), reading books with big words, Jeopardy, and running (weirdo). Mike prefers hanging with his guy friends over shopping with me, and will never listen to Journey.
We love our fur-babies!
Pen loves being lazy and grooming himself in the “old man” position. He’ll never turn down a crispy french fry and will bite your toes at night if you try to kick him off the bed. He prefers being Vic’s shadow and goes by Pen-Pen, PL, and Momma’s Boy.
Our Procreation Proclamation (family planning)
First comes love, then comes marriage, and then everything you ever thought you knew about what was “supposed” to happen with your body goes out the window and you enter the world of TTC (trying to conceive).
In January of 2013 we found out we were expecting! After 4 different ultrasounds over the course of 5 weeks, we found out the baby did not have a heartbeat. A D&C surgical procedure found this missed-miscarriage resulted from trisomy 16, a genetic abnormality caused by a blip when cells divide.
Again in October 2013 the double pink lines on a test showed another chance at pregnancy. Opting to not have stressful ultrasounds ever again, at almost 9 weeks the first scan disappointingly showed no heartbeat. Another D&C procedure and tests later, trisomy 22 caused that loss.
Now, after two angel babies in eight months time, genetic karyotyping of Vicki shows no predisposed reason for losses. This means that while we have horrible luck, we will try our hand again and hope for the very best! Join us in rooting for our rainbow baby, after this storm!
We are navigating through life’s ups and downs together, now in our almost third year of marriage! Want to know more about our amahzing wedding? Sure you do.
